Chromaatconversiecoating, beter bekend als chemiefilm of onder de merknaam Alodine, is een chemische coating die aluminium passiveert en beschermt tegen corrosie. Het wordt ook gebruikt als basislaag voor het primen en verven van onderdelen. De meest gespecificeerde standaard in technische toepassingen is MIL-DTL-5541F, die specifiek verwijst naar het coaten van aluminiumlegeringen.<\/p>

Deze beschermlaag is veel dunner dan een anodiseerlaag en hoewel beide worden gemaakt door onderdelen in een bad onder te dompelen, is alodine een eenvoudige chemische coating en wordt er geen elektrische stroom gebruikt.<\/p>

Alodine is een iets goedkoper proces dan anodiseren, maar het is gevoeliger voor krassen, slijtage en cosmetische schade. De meest voorkomende kleur van de coating is een iriserend groenachtig goud en kan dus ook voor cosmetische doeleinden worden gebruikt. Deze kleur is echter afkomstig van zeswaardig chroom, dat giftig is, dus voor RoHS-conformiteit zijn er ook heldere versies van de coating beschikbaar.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
