L'\u00e9lectropolissage est un processus \u00e9lectrochimique utilis\u00e9 pour am\u00e9liorer la finition de la surface d'une pi\u00e8ce en enlevant de la mati\u00e8re pour niveler les pics et les vall\u00e9es microscopiques. Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 permet de polir, de passiver et d'\u00e9bavurer les pi\u00e8ces. Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 fonctionne \u00e0 l'inverse des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de placage, la pi\u00e8ce jouant le r\u00f4le d'anode dans la r\u00e9action. Lorsque le courant traverse la pi\u00e8ce (anode), la surface est oxyd\u00e9e et dissoute dans la solution jusqu'\u00e0 la cathode.

L'\u00e9lectropolissage est tr\u00e8s utile pour polir des pi\u00e8ces irr\u00e9guli\u00e8res dont les surfaces sont difficiles \u00e0 atteindre.
